The design of the Information System is funded by the UN-REDD Programme, sponsored by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

The Government of Costa Rica implements the project through the National Forestry Financing Fund (Fonafifo, for its Spanish acronym), and it is responsible for the technical and political management, human resources allocation and in-kind support for the achievement of the objectives.
